  • Del Mar College Foundation’s 11th Annual “Bernie’s Famous Crawfish Boil”

    It’s crawfish time, again! The Del Mar College Foundation and Trustee Emeritus Bernie Paulson are “rounding ‘em up” for their annual “Bernie’s Famous Crawfish Boil” to raise funds for DMC student scholarships. They’re serving up crawfish with a South Texas Country flair for this signature fundraising event that would make anyone east of the Texas-Louisiana border envious. The all-you-can-eat menu includes crawfish, shrimp and sausage, along with all the fixings (veggies), and tea, sodas and open bar. The event also features a silent auction, a stilt-walker,  caricatures, face painting, a photo booth and more … not to mention live Texas Country Music to put you in a dancing mood with the sounds of local favorite  John Eric. Individuals are asked to purchase tickets or RSVP by Thursday, March 21. Individual tickets are $200 per person. Tables of 8/scholarship sponsorships are also available starting at $1,500. Easter Bunny Cares provides extra time for photos with the Easter Bunny before the mall opens — no fountain, no background music, no crowds. Reservations are required for this special event provided in partnership with Autism Speaks and Cherry Hill Programs, which oversees photo programs at La Palmera.     Training and resources received will assist students as they prepare for the accomplishment of post-secondary goals in the areas of higher education, training and obtaining competitive employment. The purpose of this event is to provide students with disabilities and their families with information about supports and services available in their community. Participants will gain resources that will help students navigate a successful adult life after graduation. These are key components that should be addressed in transition planning for ALL of your students! Do your students have a good plan for their life after graduation? Do they know what supports and services they will need to ensure their success? Do they know how and when to access needed support? Sessions will help parents and students understand the transition planning process and the importance of their participation. Topics include: self-determination/advocacy; transportation options/travel training; accessing support in college, and more Exhibitors include: Coastal Bend College; Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend; Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority; Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitation, and more Please note a 1:10 teacher to student ration is required for this event.
